Camp Rules

Camp Director

Dr. Tom Martin is the Camp Director. He has been the Head Coach at James Madison University for over 25 years. He has been named the CAA, South Atlantic Region, and National Coach of the Year. Coach martin holds a USSF "A" coaching license and has achieved the rare double of winning a national championship as both a player and a coach on TWO occasions.

Camp Staff

Camp staff will consist of highly successful college and high school coaches who have strong coaching and teaching backgrounds. Many have achieved All-American status during their playing careers and have played professionally. Most have a coaching license from the USSF, NSCAA or FIFA. JMU players will be working as camp counselors during both sessions of the camp.

Camp Facilities

Campers for the Coed Day Camp will play on the Upper East Campus Field, the former training facility for the JMU Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams. This is the same location as in past years.

Campers for the Residential Boys Camp will utilize the East Campus Fields, the fields at University Park, and UREC’s Upper Turf Fields.

Camp Housing

Campers for the Residential Boys Camp will all be housed in an air-conditioned dorm, Potomac Hall. VSC Director, Tom Martin will be staying in the dorms along with the coaches and counselors. There will be several of each on every floor. A certified athletic trainer will be staying in the dorm each night as well. Counselors will do bed-checks at 11p.m. and they will wake everyone in the dorm up for breakfast each morning at 7:30am.

If you would like to request a roommate for camp, please indicate that name on your application. Please note that two campers will be assigned to each room. We will try our best to accommodate each request made to us prior to the start of camp check-in. If a roommate is not requested, we will make every effort to assign a roommate of approximately the same age/grade. No changes can be made on registration day.

Camp Food

Campers for the Residential Boys Camp will eat all you can eat buffet meals at the East Campus Dining Hall, located directly next to Potomac Hall. The tastes and aromas of this dining hall will amaze you. Enjoy brick oven pizza, homestyle entrees, deli selections on fresh-baked breads, salads, and international dishes including Indian cuisine from authentic Tandoori ovens, and pastries and deserts baked on the spot. Vegan and vegetarian options are available as well.

Camp Bank

Each camper will have a chance to put money into a Camp Bank at registration. Money not used will be refunded at the close of camp.
